Abstract

This article highlights the problem of developing students' research competencies in the educational process of biology in secondary school. The authors reveal the essence of the concept “school project”. The authors give the classification of projects and determine their role in shaping students’ research activities in accordance with the requirements of the updated Federal State Educational Standard. The characteristics of research competencies, their structural components and stages of formation are also presented. The study stresses the main methods, techniques and forms of organizing project activities using in regular and extracurricular activities and contributing to the development of research skills. Examples of laboratory and practical work developing research competencies in secondary school are given. As a didactic tool, the authors suggest using the developed biology workbook designed for teachers and students to write a project.
