Abstract

The article reveals the possibilities of profile camps as a form of career guidance work with students of psychological and pedagogical classes. A range of approaches to understanding the concepts of professional orientation is presented as well as various versions and interpretations of situations of professional self-determination of schoolchildren.

In the review of publications on models and formats of career guidance work with future applicants and in the analysis of the results of surveys of students of a pedagogical university, the most significant circumstances affecting the professional choice of an individual are highlighted. The empirical material collected as feedback from the participants of the profile shifts “Creators of the Future” allowed us to compile a rating of events recognized as the most influential in shaping ideas about professional choice and about the future profession. The description of this experience in the formation of pedagogical orientation among schoolchildren in grades 8-11 through specialized shifts at a pedagogical university is given in the context of long–term practice of testing various models of career guidance work with schoolchildren.
