Abstract

The article examines of the most common and recurring mistakes in methodology, structure and content of educational and research works of pedagogical university students. The article presents modern approaches to the formation of future teachers’ universal and professional competencies as well as the possibilities of students' design and research activities. The shortcomings of coursework on pedagogy and psychology of 4th year full-time students are revealed in detail, the causes of these shortcomings and the method of their prevention are identified. The article also pays attention to new formats of organizing project and educational research activities of a pedagogical university students providing more opportunities to form students’ project and research skills. Increasing the applied importance of educational and research works of students for the pedagogical practice implementation is one of the training priorities of future teachers.
