Abstract

The purpose of this article is to consider the features of translation of realities in a literary text as well as to study the most common methods of translating realities in the story “Breakfast at Tiffany's” by T. Capote. As a result of the study, it was revealed that realities in literary works convey a special national flavor, so the translator should pay special attention to them. Analyzing the realities in the story “Breakfast at Tiffany's” by T. Capote translated into Russian, the following methods were discovered: transcription, transliteration, tracing and descriptive translation. At the same time, we believe that descriptive translation has a significant drawback – there is an omission of realities, which can, in turn, lead to a distortion of the meaning of the text.
