Word-formation potential of the Internet discourse

Abstract

The article is a comprehensive study of word-formation innovations in the English language Internet communication. In the course of the study the following methods were used: method of linguistic theoretical analysis of scientific concepts and approaches to formulate conceptual framework and research methodology, as well as the method of linguistic and semiotic analysis of word-formation innovations in Internet communication. The study was carried out on the basis of authentic text posts. As a result of study the specifics of word-formation innovations in Internet communication were studied, as well as was systematized and justified the classification of word-formation innovations. Moreover, the most frequent word-formation models necessary for understanding the peculiarities of functioning of the microblogging genre were identified.
